If you have a new shape Polo, you definately need a spare VW Polo key. The dealers changed something with these new cars which means that at present, if you lose your only key, it’s big trouble.
With most cars, if you lose your only car key, we can come to you in our van, make a key. Unfortunately, the VW group of cars that includes VW, Skoda, Seat and Audi are different. It’s very difficult for an independant Auto Locksmith to replace this style of key from scratch.
I've lost my VW Polo key, what do I do?
If you have lost your VW key and it looks the same as the one in our photo, we can still help. Firstly, we need to order you a key from the dealer. This normally takes 7-10 days so you’ll be without your car for that time.
Next, we’ll need to come to you, plug a computer in and make the dealer key start your car. It’s expensive and time consuming. You need to allow around £300-£450 for just one key.
This is why we recommend getting a spare VW Polo key while you still have one for us to copy from.
How much is a spare VW Polo key?
The good news is that if you have a VW Polo between 2013-2017, we can save you a lot of money. We charge £160 for a spare VW Polo key, at our workshop in Lincoln. This is a saving of over £100 on the current dealer prices.
Do you cover every VW Polo?
When VW made these cars, they changed the computer inside that runs the immobiliser. There are many different types of VW immobiliser systems throughout thre VW range.
If you had a Ford Focus, or Vauxhall Astra, we can say 100% that our software covers your car.
However, with the VAG Group of cars, it’s not so cut and dry.
Before we say 100% yes that we can do it, we’ll need to plug our software in and see whether it will cover your car.

We need to have your car for at least an hour please. There are shops local to us, or you are more than welcome to wait in our reception.
